A vinegar mandarin orange that is a specialty of Tokushima Prefecture. The green fruits are harvested from summer to autumn, and the juice and aroma are used as a seasoning. A close relative of yuzu, it was developed in Awa over 300 years ago and spread mainly in the same area. It has been cultivated since ancient times, but it became known to the general public and production began to increase in the 1960s. It grows slowly, but can reach a height of 5 to 6 meters. It is cold-resistant and relatively resistant to diseases and insects. The new shoots are purple-brown, and the buds are pale purple. The flowers bloom in May, are white with five petals, and do not form inflorescences. The fruit is oblate and globular, weighing 30 to 40g. 徳島県特産の酢ミカン。夏~秋に緑色果を収穫し,果汁と香りを調味に用いる。ユズの近縁種として300年以上前に阿波で作出され同地を中心に広まった。古くから栽培されていたが,一般に知られ,増産され始めたのは昭和40年代である。生長は遅いが高さ5~6mの木になる。耐寒性があり,病虫害にも比較的強い。新芽は紫褐色,つぼみは淡紫色をおびる。花は5月に咲き,白色5弁で花序は形成しない。果実は扁球形で30~40g。
