…He studied at Uchiyama's residence, and wrote kyoka poems for fun with fellow students Karagoromo Kitsushu and Yomono Akara (Ota Nanpo), which unexpectedly became popular and were called one of the three great masters. He called his students Shurakuren and published the kyoka anthology Kyogen Ugogaeshu in 1785 (Tenmei 5). On the other hand, during the An'ei period (1772-81), he wrote humorous books following Akara, including Uibana Shin'eki, Taitai Goran, and Zatsumon Tsubukuro. Having become familiar with pre-phrases in his youth, he joined the Ushigome Horairen group of senryu poets in 1780 and participated in the compilation of Kawazoyanagi. …
