Steinweg was a piano manufacturer founded in New York in 1853 by Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg (1797-1871), a German immigrant to America. The company produced the grand piano (1859) and upright piano (1863), which actively adopted a single cast frame, cross-stringing, double escapement, and other features, perfecting the modern piano. Steinway pianos are now widely used around the world as the finest musical instruments.

アメリカに移住したドイツ人シュタインウェークHeinrich Engelhard Steinweg(1797‐1871)によって1853年ニューヨークに設立されたピアノ製造会社。同社は，単一鋳造フレーム，交差弦方法，ダブル･エスケープメントなどを積極的に採用したグランド･ピアノ(1859)，アップライト･ピアノ(1863)を製造し，現代的ピアノを完成させた。スタインウェーのピアノは，現在最高級の楽器として世界中で広く使用されている。
