Japanese: 裾野[市] - すその

A city in northeastern Shizuoka prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1971. The eastern part is at the foot of Mt. Hakone, the western part at the foot of Mt. Fuji, and the main settlement of Sano is in the Kise River basin in the center. It is served by the Gotemba Line, the Tomei Expressway (Susono Interchange opened in 1988), and National Route 246. Large factories for auto parts and metals have set up here, accounting for approximately 70% of the total value of manufactured goods shipped (2003). The Hakone Irrigation Canal has opened up rice paddies, and vegetable and fruit cultivation is thriving. 138.12 ^km2 . Population 54,546 (2010).

静岡県北東部の市。1971年市制。東部は箱根山麓，西部は富士山麓で，中部の黄瀬川流域に主集落の佐野があり，御殿場線，1988年裾野インターチェンジ開通の，東名高速道路，国道246号線が通じる。自動車部品，金属の大工場が進出し，製造品出荷額の約７割（2003）を占めている。箱根用水による水田が開け，野菜・果樹栽培も盛ん。138.12km²。５万4546人（2010）。
