Politician. Pen name: Soni-an. Father of Yumeno Kyusaku. Born into a family of samurai in Fukuoka. Moved to Tokyo in 1880, and became acquainted with Toyama Mitsuru and others through Sasa Tomofusa. Sympathizing with Japan's policy of foreign expansion, he is known for his behind-the-scenes activities in the First Sino-Japanese War, the establishment of the South Manchuria Railway Company and the Bank of Taiwan, and the annexation of Korea. He formed friendships with politicians, business leaders, and military figures, including Ito Hirobumi, Matsukata Masayoshi, and Yamagata Aritomo, and played an active role as a mastermind. At the same time, he worked hard for the industrial development of Kitakyushu, such as the construction of the Moji Port and the Kanmon Undersea Tunnel project.

政治家。号は其日庵。夢野久作の父。福岡藩士の家に生まれる。1880年上京し，佐々友房により頭山満らと親交。日本の対外膨張政策に共鳴し，日清戦争，南満州鉄道会社や台湾銀行の設立，韓国併合など裏面での暗躍が知られ，伊藤博文・松方正義・山県有朋をはじめ政界・財界・軍人と親交を結び，黒幕として活躍した。その一方で門司築港，関門海底トンネル事業など北九州の産業開発に尽力した。
