Semelē (English spelling) Semele

Japanese: Semelē(英語表記)Semele
Semelē (English spelling) Semele

…Zeus also fathered many children with mortal women, including Dionysus by the Theban princess Semele, Hercules by Alkmene, Perseus by Danae, and Minos by Europa. Stories are told about each case that characterize the details and the people involved.

From [Zagreus]

…He was the son of Zeus, who had turned into a snake, and Persephone. He was raised to be the successor to his father, but was torn to pieces and eaten by the Titans, who were instigated by Zeus' wife Hera. However, his heart was saved by the goddess Athena, and Zeus had the Theban princess Semele swallow it, and Dionysus, the second Zagreus, was born. [Tomohiro Mizutani]. …

From [Dionysus]

…Bacchus is the English reading of the name. In myth, he is said to be the son of Zeus and Semele, the daughter of Cadmus, the king of Thebes, and the story of how he, who was born to a human woman, joined the ranks of the Olympian gods is told as follows: Semele, who was loved by Zeus and conceived a child, was deceived by Zeus's jealous wife Hera, and prayed to Zeus, who possesses thunderbolts, to visit her in her original godly form, but was struck by lightning and burned to death, but Zeus took the baby from her womb, sewed it into his thigh, and waited for the baby to come to him. …

From the Theban Legend

…His wedding with Harmonia was a grand affair, with all the gods present and blessing, but many of his daughters met unfortunate ends. These included Semele, who gave birth to Dionysus despite dying after being struck by Zeus' thunderbolt; Agau, who tore her son Pentheus to pieces (see Euripides' tragedy, The Bacchae); and Ino, who threw herself into the sea to die. The Acropolis of Thebes was called Kadmeia after Cadmus, and Babylonian cylinder seals have been unearthed there in recent years, proving that there was contact with the East.
