[Born] Around 408 B.C. [Died] circa 354 BC Brother-in-law of Dionysius I, the tyrant of Syracuse in ancient Sicily. In order to educate the immature Dionysius II, who succeeded his father, he asked his friend Plato to return to Syracuse, and planned to put his philosophical principles into political practice through the young tyrant, but failed.
