Abbreviation for National Industrial Recovery Act. A law enacted in the United States in 1933 as part of the New Deal. It suspended the application of antitrust laws to companies, permitted the formation of cartels, and protected the interests of monopoly capital, while guaranteeing workers' right to organize and collective bargaining.
