He learned the art of writing from his family's school of writing from an early age, and after being called to serve in the Imperial Court at the age of 11, he displayed his genius by always reading books and composing poetry in front of the Emperor. In 846, he was awarded the title of Doctor of Literature, in 871 he was appointed Councilor, and in 877 he was appointed Minister of Justice. In 877 he was awarded the title of Junior Third Rank. During this time, he lectured Emperor Montoku on the "Monsen" and Emperor Seiwa on the "Kanshu". According to his death, he was close to the master poet Ono no Takamura, the Confucian scholar Shunju Zenjo and Oe no Otohito, and had many disciples, but he forgot about the world and spent his time writing, admiring the moon and wind, reciting poetry, worshipping Buddhism, and cherishing people. At the time of his death, he is said to have said only one thing: that a memorial service be held in the early winter plum blossom season, and he never spoke a word to anyone else after that. He participated in the compilation of "Jogan Ceremonies" and "Montoku Jitsuroku," and also wrote the family anthology "Suga Sokoshu," as well as "Togu Kirin" and "Shuu Ryūshi." 没年:元慶4.8.30(880.10.7) 生年:弘仁3(812) 平安前期の公卿,学者。清公の4男。道真の父。幼少から家学の文章道を学び,11歳で徴されて殿上に侍してからは天皇の前で常に書を読み,詩を賦したという天才ぶりを発揮した。承和13(846)年文章博士,貞観13(871)年参議,元慶1(877)年刑部卿。同3年従三位。この間文徳天皇に『文選』,清和天皇に『漢書』を進講している。薨伝によれば,詩家の宗匠小野篁や在朝の通儒春澄善縄,大江音人と親しく,多くの門弟を持ったが,世間を忘れ書に風月をめでて詩を吟じ,仏道を崇び人々をいつくしんだという。臨終に当たり,初冬の梅の季節に法要を営むよう一言しただけで以後他語することはなかったという。『貞観儀式』『文徳実録』の編纂に加わる一方,家集『菅相公集』のほか,著書に『東宮切韻』『集韻律詩』などがある。 (村井康彦) 出典 朝日日本歴史人物事典:(株)朝日新聞出版朝日日本歴史人物事典について 情報 |
