Pharmaceuticals used to diagnose diseases and test organ function. They are classified into X-ray contrast agents, general test reagents, blood test reagents, biochemical test reagents, immunoserological test reagents, bacteriological test agents, functional test reagents, and other diagnostic agents. (1) X-ray contrast agents Barium sulfate preparations are used for imaging the digestive tract, and various iodine preparations are widely used for imaging blood vessels, bronchi, gallbladder, uterus/fallopian tubes, urinary system, spinal cord, ventricles, etc. (2) General test reagents Qualitative urine reagents are usually test strips with several test items on a single thin stick, and pH, protein, sugar, ketone bodies, occult blood, urobilin, bilirubin, etc. are examined.

疾病の診断や臓器の機能検査に用いられる医薬品。X線造影剤，一般検査用試薬，血液検査用試薬，生化学的検査用試薬，免疫血清学的検査用試薬，細菌学的検査用剤，機能検査用試薬およびその他の診断薬に分類される。(1)X線造影剤　消化管の造影には硫酸バリウム製剤が用いられ，その他，血管，気管支，胆囊，子宮･卵管，泌尿器，脊髄，脳室などの造影には各種ヨード製剤が多く用いられている。(2)一般検査用試薬　尿定性試薬としては通常1枚の細いステックに数種の検査項目を組み込んだ試験紙が用いられ，pH，タンパク質，糖，ケトン体，潜血，ウロビリン，ビリルビンなどが調べられる。
