Japanese: アゲハモドキ(擬鳳蝶) - アゲハモドキ（英語表記）Epicopeia hainesii

An insect of the Lepidoptera family, Papilionidae (illustration). The moth has a very similar wing shape to some of the swallowtail butterflies, has a tail-like protrusion on the hindwing, and is active during the day. The Papilionidae family is a small family, distributed mainly in the tropical and subtropical regions of Southeast Asia, with only five or six species known. Its body fluids are apparently unpalatable to insectivorous mammals and birds, so the safety of its life seems to be guaranteed by its avoidance by them. It is assumed that it is in a mimicry relationship with the externally similar swallowtail butterflies that coexist in the same area, but no ecological research or observation has been conducted on this point.

鱗翅目アゲハモドキガ科の昆虫（イラスト）。アゲハチョウ科の一部と翅の形が非常によく似て，後翅に尾状突起をもち，昼間活動するガ。主として東南アジアの熱帯から亜熱帯に分布するアゲハモドキガ科は，小さな科で5～6種しか知られていない。体液は食虫性の哺乳類や鳥類の好まない味らしく，彼らから敬遠されることによって生命の安全が保証されているようである。同じ地域に混生している外見上類似したアゲハチョウと擬態関係にあると推定されているが，この点における生態学的な研究観察は行われていない。
