...The former is an erosion process that occurs when wind-blown sand is blown against the bedrock, and the latter is a spalling process caused by fine unconsolidated material being blown away by the wind, but neither process forms large landforms. A typical example of landforms formed by wind abrasion are yardangs. Yardangs are elongated elevations separated by roughly parallel elongated depressions, and were named in Turkestan by S.
