A town in Soma County, in the northeastern corner of Fukushima Prefecture. It borders Miyagi Prefecture to the west and north, and faces the Pacific Ocean to the east. Rice, vegetables, and flowers are the major agricultural crops. The fishing industry produces flounder, sole, and sand lance. The Joban Line, Joban Expressway, and National Route 6 run through the town from north to south. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 46.53 km2 . 8,224 people (2010).
