Shinchi [town] - Shinchi
A town in Soma County, in the northeastern corner of Fukushima Prefecture. It borders Miyagi Prefecture to the west and north, and faces the Pacific Ocean to the east. Rice, vegetables, and flowers are the major agricultural crops. The fishing industry produces flounder, sole, and sand lance. The Joban Line, Joban Expressway, and National Route 6 run through the town from north to south. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 46.53 km2 . 8,224 people (2010).

福島県北東端，相馬郡の町。西と北とを宮城県に接し，東は太平洋にのぞむ。農業では米作，野菜・花卉(かき)栽培が盛ん。漁業では，ヒラメ，カレイ，コウナゴなどを産する。常磐線，常磐自動車道，国道６号線が町域を南北に通じる。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。46.53km2。8224人（2010）。
