Katoku

In medieval manors, the headman was responsible for the annual tax imposed on his own fields, and at the same time, he often had some of the fields cultivated by farmers, from whom he collected a certain amount of profit. These were called kajiko, or also called kataku or katako. When the payment was made in cash, it was also called kajikosen.
