Apex beat - apex beat

A protuberance on the chest wall that occurs when the apex of the heart hits the chest wall during systole. Normally, it can be palpated at the fifth intercostal space, one finger width inward from the left mammary gland, and slightly inside the outer edge of the heart. 心臓の収縮期に心尖部が胸壁に衝突して起こる胸壁上の隆起。正常では第５肋間，左乳線より１横指内側の，心臓の外端より少し内側に当たる位置で触診できる。大動脈閉鎖不全では強い拍動性，僧帽弁狭窄(きょうさく)症では喘鳴(ぜんめい)性の拍動が起こる。
