In 738, he became the head of the Left Guard, but in 739, he was implicated in the Fujiwara no Hirotsugu Rebellion, imprisoned in Heijo-kyo, and exiled to Mishima in Kamo County, Izu Province (possibly Oshima-cho, Tokyo). In 740, he was pardoned and given the rank of Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade, and the following year he was made Jibu Shoyu, and in 757, he was made Junior Fifth Rank Upper Grade. However, he seems to have participated in the Tachibana Naramaro Rebellion again, and was reported to by Nakae no Toneri Kamimichi Hitamiya, who captured him by soldiers under Fujiwara no Nakamaro. After being imprisoned in the Left Guard, he was tortured and died under the rod. His official position at the time was said to be the governor of Bizen Province.
