Xin shǐ (English: History of the Heart)

Japanese: 心史 - しんし（英語表記）Xīn shǐ

Written by Zheng Sixiao (1241-1318) in China at the end of the Song dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan dynasty. A collection of poems and prose mourning the fallen Song dynasty, the final section, A Brief Description of the Great Cause, gives a detailed account of the process of its downfall. It was discovered at the bottom of a well at the end of the Ming dynasty and kept in an iron case, so it is also known as the Iron Case Heart History. Zheng Sixiao was from Lienjiang and lived in Suzhou, where he was renowned for his poetry, prose, calligraphy and painting. He painted orchids without painting the soil, earning him a reputation as the "bare-root orchid." The meaning is that the soil was taken by the barbarians. In addition to the Heart History, he also wrote Collected Works by Master Zheng Shuonan and Collected Poems by Old Master Shuonan, each in one volume.

中国，宋末･元初の鄭思肖(1241‐1318)の著。滅亡した宋を思慕する詩文の集で，末尾の〈大義略叙〉は滅亡の経過を微細にしるす。明末に井戸の底から発見され，鉄の函に収めてあったので《鉄函（てつかん）心史》とも呼ばれる。鄭思肖は連江の人，蘇州に住み詩文，書画に名声があり，蘭を描いて土を描かず，裸根蘭と評判になった。土は蛮族に奪われたとの意。《心史》のほかに《鄭所南先生文集》《所南翁一百二十図詩集》各1巻がある。
