[Chronic gastritis]
Rather than viewing it as chronic inflammation, it is easier to understand if you think of it as various changes in the gastric mucosa as aftereffects of inflammation. A typical example is atrophic gastritis, a condition in which the gastric mucosa has atrophied and become thin. Most of these are considered to be aging phenomena of the gastric mucosa, that is, changes that occur with age (age-related changes).
