The International Sports Organization for the Disabled

Japanese: The International Sports Organization for the Disabled(英語表記)TheInternationalSportsOrganizationfortheDisabled
The International Sports Organization for the Disabled

In 1960, following an enthusiastic invitation from Italian officials, the games were held in the same venue and athlete's village after the Rome Olympic Games, and since then, the principle has been established that the games should be held in the country hosting the Olympic Games, leaving the UK. In 1976, together with the International Sports Organization for the Disabled (ISOD, established in 1962), which was primarily aimed at amputees and the visually impaired, the Disabled Olympic Games were held in Canada, and in 1980 the games were expanded to include cerebral palsy. Although the International Olympic Committee has not officially authorized the use of the name "Olympics" for these games, the summer games mainly feature common sports such as track and field and swimming, as well as table tennis, archery, basketball, weightlifting (powerlifting), snooker (a type of billiards), shooting, fencing, lawn bowls (a type of bowling), and tennis for wheelchair users, table tennis, archery, weightlifting (powerlifting), snooker, shooting, lawn bowls, and volleyball for amputees, lawn bowls, goal bowls (a type of volleyball), and judo for the visually impaired, and boccia (a type of petanque), soccer, horse riding, and cycling for the cerebral palsy. Since the first games were held in 1960, the games are now called the Paralympics (used to mean another Olympics), and are developing into the Olympics for the disabled.
