Born: January 21, 1804 in Vienna [Died] February 8, 1871. Munich. German painter, illustrator, and printmaker born in Austria. The last representative writer of the German Romantic period. He studied under Schnorr and Kraft at the Vienna Art School. He was active in Munich from 1828 onwards. He was initially influenced by P. Cornelius, but established his own style and expressed the world of fairy tales, which are unique to Germany, in a creative way within a poetic mood. His representative work is "Symphonie" (1852, Neue Pinakothek, Munich). His woodblock prints and woodblock illustrations for fairy tales published in magazines are also popular for their humorous expressions, and his representative work is the illustrations for Scheler's "Kokin Doyoshu" (1848-1849).
