Shirokane [Hot Spring] - Shirogane

Japanese: 白金[温泉] - しろがね

This hot spring is located in the southeastern part of Biei Town, Kamikawa District, Kamikawa Subprefecture, central Hokkaido. It is a highland hot spring surrounded by natural forests on the northwest slope of Mt. Tokachi (2077m) and the upper reaches of the Biei River, and is also a base for mountain climbing and skiing. It is a sapporo spring, 46-51°C. It is about 35 minutes by bus from Biei Station on the JR Furano Line. Along the road, a magnificent birch forest of uniform age stretches for about 4km, which grew naturally on top of the mudflow from the 1926 eruption of Mt. Tokachi, which washed away the former hot spring inns and caused great damage.

北海道中央部，上川支庁上川郡美瑛（びえい）町の南東部にある温泉。十勝岳(2077m)北西の山腹，美瑛川上流の自然林にかこまれた高原の温泉で，十勝岳登山と山岳スキーの基地でもある。ボウ硝泉，セッコウ泉，46～51℃。JR富良野（ふらの）線美瑛駅からバスで約35分。その道路沿い約4kmにわたって樹齢のそろったみごとなシラカバ林が続くが，これは1926年，かつての温泉宿を押し流し，大被害を与えた十勝岳噴火の泥流の上に自生したものである。
