White-headed Bulbul (Chinese bulbul)

Japanese: シロガシラ(白頭) - シロガシラ（英語表記）Chinese bulbul

A bird of the passerine family, Bulbulidae (illustration). Total length about 19 cm. Green-grey above, white below, and a yellow vertical stripe on the abdomen. The head is black, the area behind the eyes and to the back of the head is white, and there is a small white spot on the cheek. It is distributed in southern China, Hainan Island, and the Indochina Peninsula. In Japan, it is a resident bird on the Yaeyama Islands. The size of the white area behind the eye varies by region. In the Indochina Peninsula, there is no white area, and in southern China and Taiwan, the white area is large, but in Japan it is small. It lives in secondary forests, forest edges, and parks and gardens in urban areas with many roadside trees, and makes the song "fee, fee, fee."
