Taungoo Dynasty - Taungoo Town (English spelling)

A Burmese dynasty (1486-1599). Located in the upper reaches of the Sittang River in Lower Burma, Taungoo gained power from the late 14th century while absorbing refugees fleeing the wars in Upper Burma, and established a dynasty under Myingyinyo (reigned 1486-1531). The next king, Thabinshweihti (reigned 1531-50), subjugated the Mon and Portuguese forces in Lower Burma and moved the capital to Pegu (present-day Bago). His brother-in-law, King Bayinnaung (reigned 1551-81), destroyed the Aba Dynasty in 1555, took control of Upper Burma and the Shan Hills, and also captured and subjugated Ayutthaya and Vientiane in Laos. However, the direct control of the royal family was limited to the delta region, and they sent princes and princes with the title of Bayin (king) to other regions of Burma, while leaving the Shan Hills and other areas to the rule of the local feudal lords as before, and imposing only tribute. As a result, the surrounding regions were constantly on the verge of seceding, and the repeated expeditions depleted the material and human resources of the delta region, leading to the collapse of the dynasty under King Nandabayin (reigned 1581-99).

ビルマの王朝（1486～1599）。下ビルマ、シッタン川の上流部に位置するタウングーは、14世紀後半から上ビルマでの戦禍を避けた流民を吸収しつつ勢力を蓄え、ミンチィーニョーMyingyinyo（在位1486～1531）のとき王朝を開いた。次王ダビンシュエティーThabinshweihti（在位1531～50）は、下ビルマのモン人やポルトガル人勢力を服属させ、都をペグー（現バゴー）に移した。その義弟バインナウン王Bayinnaung（在位1551～81）は、1555年アバ朝を滅ぼして上ビルマ、シャン丘陵一帯を手中に収め、アユタヤやラオスのビエンチャンをも攻略、制圧した。しかし王室の直轄地はデルタ地帯に限られ、他のビルマ諸地方にはバイン（王）の称号をもつ親王・王子を派遣し、シャン丘陵その他は従来どおり土侯の支配にゆだね、貢納のみを課した。したがって、周辺地方はつねに離反する傾向にあり、たび重なる遠征はデルタ地方の物的・人的資源を枯渇させ、ナンダバイン王Nandabayin（在位1581～99）のときに王朝は崩壊した。
