Shirai [town] - Shiroi
A former town in Inba County in northwestern Chiba Prefecture. It is located on the Shimousa Plateau on the southern bank of Lake Teganuma. It produces rice and vegetables. The southern part of the town area is now Chiba New Town, and urbanization is progressing and the population is increasing. The Hokuso Development Railway runs through the town. On April 1, 2001, it became a city, becoming Shirai City. 35.41 km2 . Population: 47,451 (1995).
