An echinoderm of the family Trumpetidae in the class Echinoidea. It is found in shallow waters south of the Kii Peninsula, and often has seaweed or shell fragments attached to its shell. It is named after the white spines that are mixed in. The shell is a rounded pentagon about 10 cm in diameter and 6 cm high, with a slightly conical upper surface. The large spines are white or reddish brown, short, and sharp at the tips. There are a total of 10 spineless black-purple vertical bands in the center of each of the walking bands and inter-walking bands, making the spiny areas clearly visible.
