Written in Achaia around 200, this is the longest work in the Apocryphal Acts of the New Testament. It describes the missionary activities and martyrdom of one of the apostles, Andrew, in Achaia. The first distinctive feature of this work is its dualistic character, that of the evil and the holy. However, this differs from Gnostic dualism and is thought to be the influence of middle Platonism. The ascetic character of this work is also largely due to the influence of Tatian. 200年ころアカイアで書かれた，新約外典行伝中最も長編の作品。使徒の一人アンデレがアカイアで行った宣教活動と殉教が記される。本書の特色として，まず悪しきものと聖なるものというような二元論的性格を挙げることができる。しかしこれはグノーシス主義的な二元論とは異なり，中期プラトン主義の影響と考えられる。また本書の禁欲的性格は，タティアノスの影響によるところが多い。十字架の神秘についての考察も見られる。【川村輝典】
