An Ting Fu - An Ting Fu

A scholar of the Yi Dynasty of Korea. His pen name was Baeksun, his pen name was Junan, and his posthumous name was Munshu. He was appointed to the government through recommendation, but resigned and spent over 20 years lecturing in his hometown of Gwangju. Later, towards the end of the reign of King Yeongjo (1724-1776), he became the tutor for the Crown Prince (later known as Jeongjo, 1776-1800), and rose to the center of the ranks of the Tongji and was given the title of Gwangseonggun. While basing his studies on Neo-Confucianism, he inherited the academic style of his teacher Seongho Yi (1681-1763) and studied practical learning for the governance and practical use of the world, becoming a leading figure in the academic world. He was well versed in history and wrote the "Eastern History Gangmoku," as well as many other works, including "Shunanshu," "Ringan Zhengyao," and "Tianxueko."

朝鮮、李(り)朝の学者。字(あざな)は百順、号は順菴(じゅんあん)、諡号(しごう)は文粛(ぶんしゅく)。推挙で任官したが、辞して郷里広州で20余年間講学に努めた。のち、英祖（在位1724～1776）末年に王世孫（後の正祖。在位1776～1800）の教育係となって活躍し、官は同知中枢に昇り、広成君に封ぜられた。彼は、朱子学を自己の学問の土台としながら、師である星湖李(りよく)（1681―1763）の学風を継承して経世致用の実学を研究し、学界の重鎮となった。歴史学に通じ『東史綱目』を著したほか、『順菴集』『臨官政要』『天学考』など多くの著作がある。
