Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji

Japanese: 富嶽三十六景 - ふがくさんじゅうろっけい
Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji
In the late Edo period, Hokusai, who also absorbed Western-style techniques in his ukiyo-e woodblock prints of Mount Fuji, created this masterpiece, depicting Mount Fuji in various seasons and locations with unique compositions and exaggerated, powerful brushwork. Originally there were 36 images, but later 10 more were added for the back of Fuji, bringing the total to 46. Particularly famous are "Fine Breeze, Clear Morning" (Red Fuji), which depicts Fuji in summer, and "Under the Great Wave off Kanagawa," which incorporates perspective into a dynamic composition.
