Noh shite actor. The eldest son of Kanze Tetsunojō (Masayuki), the 7th head of the Kanze school, a branch of the Kanze school. Formerly named Kiyohisa. Hideo and Shizuo (the 8th Tetsunojō) were his younger brothers. A master of talent, diligence and theory, he had a great influence on the world of Noh. He founded the Hana no Kai group and brought a breath of fresh air to classical Noh with his outstanding performances. He also left a major mark on the new theatrical movement with new works such as "Chiekosho" and "Takahime", a fusion of avant-garde music and Noh techniques in "Mizu no Kyoku", "Oedipus", "Waiting for Godot", "Meijinden", and "The Trojan Women" as the founder of the Mei no Kai group. He also achieved international exchange in theatrical performances with Jean-Louis Barrault and others. His books include "Flowers from Heart to Heart" and others.
