Danish linguist. Professor at the University of Copenhagen in 1937. Famous for his proponents of linguistics. This theory is set out in Omkring sprogteoriens grundlæggelse (1943), which states that the object of study in linguistics is not substance itself, but form with function. In 1931, he founded the Cercle linguistique de Copenhague (Cercle linguistique de Copenhague). In 1939, he launched the linguistics journal Acta Linguistica. The Copenhagen School, along with the Prague School and the American School, became one of the three major trends in structuralist linguistics after Saussure. His other works include Principles of General Grammar (28) and Sproget. En introduktion (Sproget. En introduktion) (63).

En introduktion (63) などがある。
