This refers to foundation reinforcement work to prevent nearby existing structures from sinking or tilting when carrying out underground construction. It also includes work to restore buildings that have already sunk or tilted, or to move buildings. Methods include installing retaining walls, adopting ground stabilization methods, and installing additional support piles to prevent soil and water from moving under the foundation of the structure. Underpinning must be carried out without destroying or damaging existing structures and the surrounding area, and since it is dangerous and difficult work with limited working space, it takes longer to complete and costs more than general foundation work, and requires a high level of comprehensive knowledge and experience.
