A shrub of the Solanaceae family native to tropical America. It grows to a height of about 1m, has thorny stems, and has large heart-shaped leaves. It produces 3-4 purple florets in the leaf axils. The fruit is yellow, egg-shaped, slightly pointed at the tip, and has several nipple-like protrusions at the base. It is used as a flower material under the name foxface.
