Horned eggplant

A shrub of the Solanaceae family native to tropical America. It grows to a height of about 1m, has thorny stems, and has large heart-shaped leaves. It produces 3-4 purple florets in the leaf axils. The fruit is yellow, egg-shaped, slightly pointed at the tip, and has several nipple-like protrusions at the base. It is used as a flower material under the name foxface. 熱帯アメリカ原産のナス科の低木。高さ約1mになり，茎には普通とげがあり，葉は大きなハート形。葉腋に紫色の小花を３〜４個つける。果実は黄色，卵形で先がややとがり，基部には乳頭状の突起を数個つけ，フォックスフェースの名で生花材料とされる。日本では春まき一年草として栽培。
