Its abbreviation is Nor. It is a small southern constellation close to Centaurus, and was created by the 18th century French astronomer Nelson de Lacaille. It has no bright stars. A set square and a straightedge are drawn on the star chart, but it is difficult to imagine them from the star sequence. Its approximate position is 16h0m in right ascension and -50° in declination.
