The Journal of Tsunemoto Kikkawa's Affairs

Japanese: 吉川経幹周旋記 - きっかわつねもとしゅうせんき

A collection of historical materials from the end of the Edo period centering on the Choshu clan. 26 volumes. Yoshikawa Tsunemoto (1829-69), the lord of Iwakuni clan, a branch of the Choshu clan, acted as an intermediary between the shogunate and the Imperial Court and the Choshu clan from around 1861 (Bunkyu 1), and was for a time the main Choshu clan's representative in external relations. This book is a chronological compilation of original historical materials from that time up to 1868 (Meiji 1) compiled by Inoue Hisashi, Togawa Motomu and others. Published in 1881. 長州藩を中心とする幕末維新史料集。26巻。長州藩の一支藩，岩国藩の藩主であった吉川経幹(1829‐69)は，1861年(文久1)ごろから幕府や朝廷と長州藩の間の周旋をし，一時，長州本藩の対外的な代表者であった。本書は，68年(明治1)に至る当時の原史料を，井上尚志，戸川勿らが編年体に編纂したもの。81年成立。《日本史籍協会叢書》6冊に所収。【井上勝生】
