Anthurium - Anthurium

A foliage plant of the Araceae family (APG classification: Araceae). Native to tropical America. After the leaves fall off, they grow like stems, but some species have almost no stems at all. The leaves have long petioles and are varied, including heart-shaped, oblong, and palmate. Horticultural varieties are cultivated for their beautiful flowers (spathes) and for their beautiful leaf patterns. Representative species are the red prickly pear, famous as a cut flower in Hawaii, and the red prickly pear, suitable for potted plants. Other well-known species include the crystal linum, which has broad heart-shaped leaves with a dark green velvety surface and silvery-white veins, the velvety prickly pear, and the walloqueanum, which has long, fleshy leaves with a velvety dark green appearance. Care is important in winter, and the temperature should be kept above 15°C and humidity should be kept high. For propagation, seeds are produced by seed, and layering is also possible from the stem-like parts.

サトイモ科（APG分類：サトイモ科）の観葉植物。熱帯アメリカ原産。葉のとれたあとが茎状となり伸びるが、ほとんど茎のない種類もある。葉は長い葉柄をもち、心臓形、長楕円(ちょうだえん)形、掌状と変化に富む。園芸品種として花（仏炎包(ぶつえんほう)）の美しいものと葉の色彩模様の美しいものが栽培される。代表種は、ハワイの切り花として有名なオオベニウチワと鉢花向きのベニウチワで、ほかに葉が広心臓形、表面が暗緑色ビロード状で葉脈のみが銀白色のクリスタルリナム、ビロードウチワ、細長い肉厚の葉が深緑色ビロード状のワロクェアナムがよく知られる。冬の管理がたいせつで、15℃以上を保ち湿度を高くする。繁殖は、種のできるものは実生(みしょう)。茎状部分で取木も可能。
