guanay

…the accumulation of urine and feces from wild seabirds on tropical coasts and islands. The name comes from the name of a bird called Guanay, a white-bellied cormorant (local name Guanay) in Peru, South America. The guano harvested on islands off the coast of Peru is particularly famous, and since the mid-19th century it has been actively exported to the world market as a concentrated nitrogen fertilizer, known as Peruvian guano.
