Dzungaria

Japanese: ジュンガリア

A region in the northeastern part of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in western China. It is part of the Dzungar Basin. It is surrounded by the Altai and Tianshan mountain ranges, with the eastern and southern areas being higher and the western and northern areas being lower. It is relatively humid, with a complex topography that includes lakes, marshes, deserts, and plains. In addition to raising sheep, cattle, and horses, wheat is cultivated. The Dzungar tribe was powerful from the early 17th century to the mid-18th century.

中国西部，新疆ウイグル自治区北東部の地方。ジュンガル盆地と呼ばれる地域に該当。アルタイ・天山両山脈に囲まれ，東部と南部が高く，西部と北部が低い。比較的湿潤で，湖沼，砂漠，平原があり，地形は複雑。羊，牛，馬の牧畜のほか小麦の栽培が行われる。17世紀初めから18世紀中ごろジュンガル部が勢威を振るった。
