An architectural plan that is centered in one place and has point symmetry or line symmetry with one or several axes of symmetry. This applies to the central part of the building, and the ancillary parts are often asymmetric. The basic plans for buildings in the central part are circular, square, or regular polygonal. They are used for various indoor stadiums, especially exhibition halls and factories that require large spaces, as well as for fluid and liquid storage and cooling towers. Buildings with centralized plans have been constructed since ancient times, and their regular forms have been recognized as transcendental, leading to their widespread use as monumental architecture, especially as mausoleums.
