Charles IX - Charles

Japanese: シャルル[9世] - シャルル
Charles IX - Charles
King of France (reigned 1560-1574). Son of Henry II. Even after ascending to the throne, real power remained in the hands of his mother, Catherine de Medici. At the beginning of his reign, the religious wars (the French Wars of Religion) broke out, and the royal power was unstable due to the fierce conflict between Catholics and Protestants. The king is also partially responsible for the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre in 1572.
