Question mark - Gimonfu
〘noun〙① A mark to express a question. In normal writing, it is used instead of a full stop at the end of a question. A mark for "?". In Japanese writing, it gradually became more widely used from around 1887 ( Meiji 20 ). A question mark. An interrogation mark. *The Dispute between Shiratori and Akisei (1934) by Yazaki Dan, "Throwing out question marks like this is Shiratori's habit." ② (figuratively) Something that is doubtful as to whether it is so or the feeling that way. *Young People (1933-37) by Ishizaka Yojiro, part 2, "She had already tried it before the question mark was added."
