Aztec Kingdom - Aztec Kingdom (English spelling)
An Indian (native) kingdom that flourished in Mexico from the 14th century to the early 16th century. The Aztecs, also known as the Aztecs, were of nomadic origin, but after settling on the Mexican plateau, they inherited the heritage of advanced cultures and built a great unified state with Tenochtitlan (now Mexico City) as its capital in the early 15th century. Many ruins and relics remain, and thanks to records by the Spanish, their history and culture are the best known of all the Central American cultures. They had a theocratic government led by the king, who was a military leader, and a priestly class, used hieroglyphics, and excelled in astronomical observation. They built magnificent pyramids, temples, palaces, and works of art, and had an advanced culture, but were destroyed by the Spaniard Cortes in 1521.
