Social anxiety

Japanese: 社会不安 - しゃかいふあん（英語表記）social unrest

A sense of crisis is likely to arise in uncertain situations where people's existing "world of meaning" cannot provide people with an appropriate meaning or guidelines for dealing with a currently occurring phenomenon. It manifests itself in situations where (1) there is insufficient information or knowledge about the phenomenon, (2) there is no accurate knowledge about the cause or circumstances of the phenomenon's manifestation, (3) there is no prediction of how the situation will progress in the future, and (4) there is no specific way to deal with it. Social anxiety therefore appears in various situations, such as international relations, class relations, relations between groups, relations within groups, or natural disasters, and its quality and extent are not uniform.

人々の既存の〈意味世界〉が目下生起している現象に対して，適切な意味づけや対処の指針を人々に与えられない不確定な状況で生じやすい危機感情。それは，(1)現象についての十分な情報や知識を得られず，(2)現象の表出の原因や経緯についての的確な知識がなく，(3)今後の事態の推移の仕方についての予想もつかず，(4)そのために具体的な対処の仕方もわからない状況にあって顕在化する。したがって社会不安は国際関係，階級関係，集団相互の関係，集団内部の関係，あるいは自然災害などさまざまな場においてあらわれ，その質や広がりは一律でない。
