A Baroque palace in Vienna, the capital of Austria. It consists of two buildings, the Upper Palace and the Lower Palace, with a beautiful garden between them. It was built in the early 18th century as a summer residence for Prince Eugen (1663-1736), the general who led the war that began with the second siege of Vienna by the Ottoman Turks in 1683, but was later sold to Empress Maria Theresa, Archduchess of Austria. Currently, the Upper Palace is the Austrian Picture Gallery, the second largest art museum in the country, and the Lower Palace is the Medieval and Baroque Museum. At the Upper Palace, you can see 19th and 20th century paintings such as Gustav Klimt's (1862-1918) masterpiece "The Kiss" and Egon Schiele's (1890-1918) "The Family," while at the Lower Palace, you can see Baroque art such as portraits of Maintenance and frescoes by Rottmayer. Within the palace grounds is the mansion where composer Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) spent his later years. The local name is "Belvedere Palace."

オーストリアの首都ウィーンにあるバロック様式の宮殿。上宮、下宮の2つの建物からなり、両宮殿の間に美しい庭園がある。1683年のオスマントルコの第2次ウィーン包囲で始まった戦争を勝利に導いた将軍、プリンツ・オイゲン（1663～1736年）の夏の離宮として18世紀初めに建設されたが、その後、皇后・オーストリア大公マリア・テレジアに売却された。現在、上宮は同国で2番目に大きな美術館のオーストリア絵画館に、下宮は中世・バロック博物館になっている。上宮のオーストリア絵画館ではグスタフ・クリムト（1862～1918年）の代表作「接吻」やエゴン・シーレ（1890～1918年）の「家族」などの19～20世紀の絵画が、下宮の中世・バロック博物館ではメンテナンスの肖像画やロットマイヤーのフレスコ画などのバロック美術の作品を見ることができる。なお、この宮殿の敷地内に、作曲家アントン・ブルックナー（1824～1896年）が晩年を過ごした邸宅がある。◇現地名は「Belvedere Palace」。
