Capital goods - Shihonzai (English spelling) capital goods
Capital goods are goods other than land used to produce wealth, and are means of production or intermediate products produced by humans. They are also called investment goods or producer goods. Capital goods are divided into fixed capital goods, such as machines, buildings, and tools, which are used over the long term, and current capital goods, such as raw materials, which lose their original form after a single use, depending on their durability. Capital goods are often treated as almost synonymous with producer goods, but according to the statistical classification of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, only fixed capital goods are capital goods, and current capital goods are producer goods. Therefore, the production and shipment index of capital goods from the statistics of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is used as an important economic indicator to judge the trend of capital investment.
