A type of megalithic monument. It is made up of several rows of standing stones, often located at the same place as a stone circle. The most famous of these rows are those at Carnac in northwestern France, which stretch for several kilometers. They date mainly to the Neolithic period, but there are some slightly later ones. 巨石記念物の一種。立石を数列に並べたもので,ストーンサークルなどと同一の地点にある場合が多い。この種の列石として最も著名なものは北西フランスのカルナックにある列石で,数 kmに及ぶ長大なものが残されている。時期は新石器時代が中心になるが,若干時代の下るものもある。
