The discovery of the important abrupt point for obtaining an image without coma aberration is said to have been made by the Englishman Joseph Jackson Lister (1786-1869), but this was later theorized by E. Abbe as the sine condition for eliminating coma aberration. The elimination of chromatic aberration that occurs in objective lenses is also a major problem, and this point is also common to telescopes.
