Phytoecdysone

...20-OH-ecdysone has been isolated and identified from the marine crayfish Jasus labandi and the marine crab Callinectes sapidus . It has since been reported that plants also contain sterols with molting hormone activity, and these are called phytoecdysones, as opposed to zooecdysones, which are derived from arthropods. Ecdysones have been extracted from 66 different plant species, but are particularly abundant in ferns and seed plants of the Podocarpus and Amaranthaceae families.
