Shinanokinbai - Shinanokinbai

Japanese: シナノキンバイ - しなのきんばい
Shinanokinbai - Shinanokinbai

A perennial plant of the Ranunculaceae family (APG classification: Ranunculaceae). The stem is 20-60 cm tall. The leaves are divided into three lobes, with sharp sawtooth on the lobes. In July and August, a single bright yellow flower about 4 cm in diameter blooms at the end of the stem. The flower has small petals and petal-like sepals, and the petals are shorter than the stamens. The fruit is a capsule with 6-13 pieces. It is one of the representative alpine plants, growing in moist grasslands in the alpine zone, and is distributed in Honshu from the Chubu region north, Hokkaido, and the Korean peninsula. It is similar to the same genus, Trollius japonica, and is named after the fact that it is common in Nagano Prefecture. The basic species, Trollius japonica, which has a large number of pistils and sepals, is distributed in Hokkaido, the Kuril Islands, Kamchatka, and Okhotsk.
