Also known as apple wine. A type of fruit wine. It is made by squeezing apples and fermenting the juice. There is also a sparkling version made by injecting carbon dioxide into it. It has an alcohol content of around 5%. Although it is called cider in English, it is different from the Japanese soft drink cider. France is the main producer of cider, and the one from Normandy is particularly famous.
