A declaration of faith adopted by the First National Synod of the French Reformed Church in Paris in 1559. Based on the 35 articles sent to the synod by Calvin in Geneva, it consists of 40 articles in four parts: God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Church. It emphasizes the doctrine of "Scripture alone" and develops the doctrine of predestination and Calvinist doctrine of the sacraments. It was presented to King Francis II of France in 1560, and its contents were reviewed, unified, and reaffirmed at the Sixth National Synod in La Rochelle in 1571. It was compiled by A. de Chandu (1559), first in French and later in Latin (66). In France, it is called the La Rochelle Confession of Faith.
